12V solar charge controller
It's a Simple Linear Solar Charge Controller / Solar Charger with 2 variations :-
1. With Type A Female USB Port.
2. Without USB port.
Both versions work the same except for of course the USB charging port.
12v rated solar panels from 10w to 100 watts can be used with this board.
Max Current of 10A highly depends on the P - Channel MOSFET Q2 and Diode D1.
Better the Q2 MOSFET is Cooled by using bigger heatsink better the Charging Current.
a Lower RDS (on ) MOSFET Always works best.
For Diode D1 we used 10A10 rectifier diode, but Schottky diodes can also be used.
Dusk to Down street light function is made of a LDR controlled N - Channel MOSFET.
the ambient light conditions to turn on the MOSFET can be adjusted by RV1.
this way we can save precious Battery power for the darker hours of night.
this function is also helpful when we do not want the street to turn on in day time during rainy season due to low light conditions.
LED lights of 12v rating can be used.
Just remember higher the wattage of LED lights, lower the backup time.
( it also depends on battery and solar panel used. )
This solar charge controller board is intended for Lead - Acid Batteries,
but other types of batteries can also be used.
you have to set the charging voltage via RV2 as per the battery used.
After the Battery reaches the set voltage the charging current is reduced to a tickle, thus preventing over charging.
a Low Battery indication LED is set to 10.5v, when battery goes below that, the LED lights up.
USB charging port has max current rating of 1.5 Amperes.
for +5v regulated voltage we used L7805 regulator ic.
LED is provided to indicate usb power.
